Lazy morning, working off yesterday's trip to see broken stuff (you travel all this way...), birthday breakfast, then off to an Elizabethan (the first) house, Little Moreton Hall, on the southern tip of Cheshire. It was not the easiest drive to get there but well worth the visit.
Next stop, Biddulph Grange, with its gardens from around the world, although the "Egyptian" garden was a bit of a disappointment (2 sphynx(es?) and a woven cane camel, made by school children), so we decided to give the Chinese garden, with its very own Great Wall of China, a miss, for fear of being a tad underwhelmed. The gardens were, however, definitely worth visiting, especially to see the huge range of tree life.
Final stop, birthday celebrations at a Scottish fish restaurant with the Estall clan (Laura, Ian, Gareth and Laura) and evening tea at Laura and Gareth's (the newly weds' home). A lovely end to a lovely day! Now spending the night in Lymm, with Laura and Ian.
