A gentle start to the day in Lymm, leaving at 10 am for Chester, the county town of Cheshire (where the cheese comes from). The city has a gothic-style Cathedral, grand town hall and many jewellery shops for a Mum to "casually" walk an anxious looking Cody past ;-) After a less than successful shopping tour of the town we headed for Erddig (pronounced "Erthig"), just across the border into north east Wales, and settled at a picnic table for a home prepared lunch of butties and juice. The grand National Trust mansion at Erddig still has all its out buildings in tact and is ornately furnished with artifacts collected over its life (of around 320 years). Impressive formal gardens surround the property, allowing for much plant spotting.
Tea and cake in the tea room and a detour back to Lymm via Fflint, Cymru (Flint, Wales - a town that apparently has a castle AND a mountain, although we saw neither), for the purpose of amusing other members of the Coyne family back in the States (most likely candidate, Connor) , and Connah's Quay (pronounced "Connor's Key" [said with British accent]), before heading back to Whitefield, Manchester, for more tea and Jeeves. Packing for the return trip has been completed, although the case is rather more stuffed than the Christmas turkey...Well, one can't come to England without shopping for cool stuff to take back. The National Trust has done very well out of this trip.
Da nos [Good Night]!
